Pentium M – which is the best Centrino laptop?
In our test lab visit the following “contenders” for the champion’s title among Centrino (Pentium M) laptops: - Toshiba Tecra M3 – Centrino Pentium M 1.73GHz (2MB), GeForce 6200TE 64MB, 1024MB DDR2. Stylish and very model of a solid senior class Tecra Toshiba (nothing to do with receiving the black and poor along the import Sattelite series). Metallic shell, comfortable keyboard, joystick, DDR2 memory and the course is in fantastic broken way GeForce 6200 video card. - HP nc6000 – Centrino Pentium M 1600MHz (2MB), Radeon 9600 32MB, 512MB DDR. Rugged design, good sound, bright and contrast display, good video. - IBM Thinkpad T42 – Centrino Pentium M 1700MHz (2MB), 512MB DDR, Radeon 7500 64MB. Extremely healthy, stylish and thin composite shell, the strongest hinges (titanium) of the views from my laptop. Very comfortable keyboard and extremely convenient joystick, active protection system on the hard disk (sensor position and acceleration). A powerful graphics card, which is limited only by the lack of support for DX9. - IBM ThinkPad X31 – Centrino Pentium M 1600MHz, 512MB DDR, Radeon Mobility 16MB. Very compact 12-inch mini-laptop. Same strong composite housing as T42. Conclusions: Toshiba Tecra M3 is the undisputed winner in the gaming and graphics tests. Exclusive graphical power makes this laptop suitable even for professional graphic design (see results from SPEC ViewPerf 8.1). Other indicators of power such as laptops are close to form two groups – Toshiba Tecra M3 and IBM Thinkpad T42, which are quite similar with the other group of IBM X31 and HP Nc6000, showing slightly weaker results, such as productivity. Centrino videomosht phenomenal for a Tecra M3 is somewhat succeeded neloshata competition from video on HP nc6000, which, however, loses much of its truncated videopamet. These two laptops are suitable for games and Tecra M3 is quite new for games like Serious Sam 2, Need For Speed Most Wanted. Thinkpad laptops show what strength, reliable, stylish and beautiful building, comfortable keyboard, solid and silent operation. It appears particularly well against the cheap housing and not very stable hinges HP nc6000. Of course, the quality of Tninkpad (IBM implementation) is bordered by the military and space technologies and is unattainable for other manufacturers and therefore not properly be taken as a yardstick against because of cheap Chinese new HP nc6000 laptop is much more robust and solid laptop. Our test laboratory is impressed by the agility of the work of the new Centrino 533MHz FSB processor, DDR2 memory, a high-quality production of the body and the powerful graphics card on Toshiba Tecra M3 and it’s championship performance, but our winner is IBM Thinkpad T42 – productive , stylish and reliable. Choice of authors, however, remains “midget” Thinkpad X31 – convenient, compact, rugged and lightweight. Technique that would mislead you to a much lesser extent than any other. Feedback from friends and customers for small Centrino are impressive.
