IBM Thinkpad R50

IBM Thinkpad R50The laptops with S-IPS matrix are extremely rare and deserve detailed review. The review of IBM Thinkpad R50 will consist of two parts (two separate articles). In this first part will mainly explore the theme of the display of the IBM Thinkpad R50, compared with a standard TN + Film displays and TN LCD screens of modern high-end laptops, including wide, opaque, and modern “glossy panel. Mediocrity has captured the world markets for consumer laptops, and similar trends are observed even in the corporate markets. Hardware parameters such as processor and graphics card, of course, each year becoming better, although the Conroe architecture is based on over 80% of the Pentium III technology adopted by Tualatin and much less costly to manufacture as compared to expensive NetBurst. TN + Film matrix LCD displays is the subject of much misinformation about marketing techniques, and thus mislead the consumer. This cheap and terrible features real matrices 2-3 years ago were used almost 99% of laptops, but these days in 100% of mobile computing, while remaining true colors, correct color reproduction, good viewing angles only for the desktop S -IPS and * VA monitors. Exceptions are only some of the HP Compaq tablet PCs with AFFS display. While there was a production unit of IBM laptops, the American giant boldly introducing laptops in their matrices, other than standard. IBM laptop usually means that have S-IPS matrix with “p” after the number of the standard model, for example Thinkpad T40p, T41p, T42p, T43p, R50p. Like most “p”-th in the electronic equipment and that means Professional, and unlike other companies, making it a pseudo-professional performances, IBM has made professional machine with resolution 1600 * 1200, professional S-IPS matrix video card for 3D and CAD (ATI FireGL). IBM produces and workstations with 1400 x 1050 S-IPS matrix, and good video card ATI Radeon no great claims for 3D design, which is also the protagonist in this review. Actually there is much information on the Internet for modification of the drivers of the mobile in a mobile Radeon FireGL.

IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T60

Lenovo Thinkpad T60After the failure of some modifications of the Thinkpad T43 and not very strong impression on Thinkpad Z60t, we were almost sure that the last real quality and maximum balanced model is Thinkpad T42. This impression is further reinforced by the weak receiver models of IBM, the Chinese company Lenovo. There are many consumers who know that the Lenovo factory actually produced the best models of IBM (Thinkpad T40/40p, T41/41p, T42/42p, X31/32/40). Accumulation of the image maker of the best mobile computing, IBM was a monopolist in corporate markets and is becoming a dream acquisition, for each customer. Everything in the series Thinkpad is Refined to perfection – tough, expensive materials – copper, titanium, composites, perfect keyboard, joystick and touch-pod. IBM is a generator of new technologies in notebook PCs by selling its innovative solutions Toshiba, DELL, HP and others. No coincidence of all NASA space missions are equipped with technology from IBM (Thinkpad-series). INTEL and Microsoft also trust corporation as a Thinkpad laptop, and with them, and many IT-companies, banks, universities, public administrations and others. Surprisingly, users (corporate and end) in 2005 IBM sold its production facilities to the Chinese Lenovo. Is sold and the legendary brand – THINKPAD. Economic and financial experts of IBM apparently felt that the hardware is not as profitable as the sale of technology, innovation, software solutions. Selling trade name “Thinkpad”, IBM commitment for 5 years to maintain a technology (design, monitoring, maintenance, marketing) its probably the most famous brand “Thinkpad”.

IBM Thinkpad X41 Tablet

IBM Thinkpad X41 TabletThis is IBM Thinkpad X41 tablet with incredible AFFS matrix which has become a matter for review of Fujitsu T4020D. Design of the X41 Tablet is traditional for IBM, as many points and very light thin Thinkpad X40. The platform is relatively recent and now Intel Alviso i915GM graphic solution Intel GMA900. The processor is a low-frequency Pentium M LV 758 with working frequency of 1.5GHz. Despite the relatively low frequency, it is true Dothan processor with 2MB cache and 533Mhz bus. Available memory is DDR2, laptop works in dual channel mode, which allows the graphics core built to show relatively good performance. Let us recall that the GMA900 has hardware acceleration for HDTV. Unlike some of the latest IBM Thinkpad T43, cooling is a Thinkpad X41 tablet and keep silent in normal temperature ranges.

HP nw8000 versus games laptop Toshiba Tecra M3

HP nw8000 vs Toshiba Tecra M3After IBM Thinkpad R50p and HP nw8240, our “test laboratory” graphic next visit (work) station of HP. The parameters are similar to those of the IBM Thinkpad R50p.To review more interesting, in a direct duel will Resisting HP nw8000, Centrino-winner of the battle – Toshiba Tecra M3. I miss the description of the qualities of individual series of major manufacturers – both machines are very good quality and the highest grade for its time – strong, reliable, made very expensive and claims to be the top in its class. Housing, design and ergonomics. HP nw8000 body is pretty thick and this little uncomely, but it takes account of powerful speakers, CPU coolers and solid productivity professional graphics card, and … FDD. Toshiba Tecra M3 is a classic Japanese-style design – very elegant forms, which are preserved even in the latest dual-core Tecra. Cover the lid of the Tecra M3 is a metal arm and gives coldness pleasant to the touch. There are many holes in the bottom of Toshiba – better CPU cooling and powerful NVidia graphics processor. Both have a joystick laptop – great respect for the Thinkpad from IBM, but unlike his voluntary role in the awkward nw8000, Tecra M3 has almost approached the benchmark of the IBM Thinkpad. The keyboard on Toshiba also resembles that of the Thinkpad and is almost as enjoyable, while that of HP is a bit “dry” and rather tends to DELL. Toshiba is out with a little touchpad, which react less inert – if HP is almost everything perfectly. (more…)

IBM Thinkpad T43

IBM Thinkpad T43IBM Thinkpad T43 laptop the last produced by IBM. Although the logo is legendary Thinkpad laptops live in the Chinese company Lenovo, quality and innovation are not at that level compared to competitors, as in the years before the 2005th. In fact Lenovo are a good manufacturer of laptops, albeit supported by powerful research development center of IBM. Printed materials for thousands of quality Thinkpad, many videos of extreme ruggedness and reliability of T-series can be found on the Internet. Only the quality of the Thinkpad meet the requirements of NASA, military applications, geophysical research, science and business. Each remaining choice of laptop was more of a compromise because of its lower price. This article will test the latest T-Series laptop to IBM. In our test lab we have two options placed on IBM Thinkpad T43 – Complete one standard video and Intel GMA900, other IBM T43 is equipped with a fingerprint scanner, a video card is ATI Mobility Radeon X300. It is interesting to note that the cheaper model has the logo of Lenovo, a more expensive T43 has a logo of IBM. Competition between the two versions of the T43 is not very interesting, so Test added in more modern laptop – dual DELL Latitude D420 and Netbook DELL Mini9, also participated in our test and HP Compaq nc6230 with a powerful Pentium M 2.00GHz, who also has a video system-ATI Radeon X300.
