In our test lab visit the following “contenders” for the champion’s title among Centrino (Pentium M) laptops: - Toshiba Tecra M3 – Centrino Pentium M 1.73GHz (2MB), GeForce 6200TE 64MB, 1024MB DDR2. Stylish and very model of a solid senior class Tecra Toshiba (nothing to do with receiving the black and poor along the import Sattelite series). Metallic shell, comfortable keyboard, joystick, DDR2 memory and the course is in fantastic broken way GeForce 6200 video card. - HP nc6000 – Centrino Pentium M 1600MHz (2MB), Radeon 9600 32MB, 512MB DDR. Rugged design, good sound, bright and contrast display, good video. - IBM Thinkpad T42 – Centrino Pentium M 1700MHz (2MB), 512MB DDR, Radeon 7500 64MB. Extremely healthy, stylish and thin composite shell, the strongest hinges (titanium) of the views from my laptop. Very comfortable keyboard and extremely convenient joystick, active protection system on the hard disk (sensor position and acceleration). A powerful graphics card, which is limited only by the lack of support for DX9. - IBM ThinkPad X31 – Centrino Pentium M 1600MHz, 512MB DDR, Radeon Mobility 16MB. Very compact 12-inch mini-laptop. The body is mainly made of metal, which, after hundreds of plastic models made me extremely impressed. Alone know how I am impressed by the articles in front of the composite hull IBM Thinkpad. Everything here is mostly metallic, very high quality and stylishly constructed. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful seen from my laptop. Interesting patterns from a new HP Pavilion series are available on the metallic housing. Hinge of the rotating touch-screen display is also very solid metal – there is no slack. Light is underway between the two parts – a display and lower body in the closed position due to the diligence of the engineers to make universal bilateral fastening. HP Pavilion tx1250 is the lightest of laptops, but this is due to the heavy and reliable material from which it was prepared. Dimensions themselves are very compact. Hardware. “The heart of the tx1250 is Mobile DualCore AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56 1.8Ghz processor. Processor that powered the large 17-inch Pavilion dv9000 and I think it is unnecessary for a powerful mini-laptop. Video system is based on the NVidia GeForce Go 6150 64MB (288MB Turbo Cache). Video card is doing quite well with their tasks – from more modest games to decode the HD format (which decoding is done mainly by a powerful processor as cards with hardware support for HD are 8th series of NVidia up). The platform is based on the highly successful and reliable NForce 430. Stability of the platform very close to that of the Centrino Duo machine, so as big manufacturers like HP is such a trusted system. (more…)

HP e among the leading notebook manufacturers, including consumer and Pavilion series, which is top of the huge 20-inch “Dragon” (review, which is below), and among graphic nw – series (Workstation) (made an overview of nw8000 and incredible nw8240). HP Tablet produces and amazing and it laptops with AFFS matrix (modification of AFFS). In this article, however we will look nc – series (business class of HP). A distinctive feature of this series is simple, very elegant design, imposed after the 2003-2004-years. This design is noticeable effort to maintain and even surpass the “benchmark” IBM ThinkPad T-series. Much like a thin profile, joystick, together with responsive touch-pad metallic upper lid, durable magnesium chassis, passive (in new models and active system) to protect the hard disk. Laptops from this series highlight the work and engineering focus, through the existence of a serial (COM) port. Many fans and satisfied fans of the ThinkPad, which decided to use the model as the HP Compaq nc6220 shared her satisfaction from working with HP. Starting today reviews the chronological order of the models. HP Compaq nc6110 – one of the first representatives of this business series. I will not describe the design of the laptop, as is typical for the whole series, but I will mention again that it is very elegant, made tight, no slack. My aim was to compare the most powerful video from the system and processor laptop with a desktop machine, assembled with organic budget. Many took time to find a suitable gaming laptop. Our previous favorite – HDX9000 “Dragon” is too weak to compare with the video card on an average modern configuration. We stopped on DELL XPS M1730 with an incredible two NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX video cards in SLI! Real madness for a laptop. CPU is Core2Duo T7700, 2.4GHz, 4MB – a solid performance. Sorry we could not find a DELL XPS with the most powerful processor Q9700. Before you see that window do not believe that the laptop coexist two 256-bit video cards in SLI mode: To be fed this huge laptop, DELL have provided enormous Adapter (for unexplained reasons, which is similar to that for HP Pavilion HDX9000). Heat separated from the worker is scary M1730 – desktop had the feeling that every moment will be dissolved. (more…)

Highly dependent on the benevolence of INTEL, websites reviews tactfully silent about actual performance of Intel Atom processors and the performance of Atom + i945 platforms compared with other single-core solutions to Intel. Objective of our test is to show the real performance of the Intel Atom, compared with the older and would slower Pentium M (Centrino processor). Test machines are: – DELL Inspiron Mini 9 (9-inch netbook with Intel Atom 1600MHz Hyper Threading); – IBM ThinkPad X40 (12-inch mini-laptop with LV Pentium M 1400Mhz (Dothan 2MB) processor); – IBM Thinkpad X31 (12-inch mini-laptop with a Pentium M 1400Mhz (Banias 1MB) processor); – Toshiba Portege R100 (one of the most thin and elegant 12-inch mini-notebooks with ULV Pentium M (Banias 1MB) processor). Laptops are tested with the OS – Windows XP Professional SP3. Before proceeding to the test results and analysis will make a brief overview of mobile machines. DELL Inspiron Mini9 – unlike the prototype of the Netbook from Asus, DELL mobile device is very beautiful, elegant, with an excellent display with high resolution (1024 * 600), which does not need to constantly scroll pages and images. The keyboard is quite comfortable, but obviously not up space for functional butoni.Bateriyata is quite durable (over 3 hours), which is normally a super-economical ATOM. Model has a camera that is binding attribute of the modern laptop / netbook. Mini-machine no hard disk and Solid State “HDD”, which has both advantages and disadvantages. The laptop has become an integral part of our lives, and more people appreciate the compactness and autonomy. Niche maximum compact notebooks was somewhat successfully completed by netbooks. Partly because Intel atom is nice and economical processor, but is far from the performance of any laptop with a Pentium M processor – this is seen by many of our previous tests. Pentium M (Centrino) laptop, although the ratio unbeatable performance / economy remains in the past of computer technology. Market demand high performance, compact, economical and most autonomous laptops. Such laptops are positioned in the image class and are significantly more expensive than models with normal size and standard processors. The most prominent representatives of this class of mini-expensive laptops are Sony VAIO TZ, Toshiba Portege R500, Lenovo Thinkpad X300. These are powerful laptops with ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) Dual Core processors, weighing about 1kg., 12-inch matrix exclusive design. In this review we chose to test mini-laptops with more modest prices, but the uncompromising quality of DELL and HP Compaq. These are representatives of business-class manufacturer of both large and not image laptops, as mentioned above extremely expensive mini-laptops. IBM Thinkpad T43 laptop the last produced by IBM. Although the logo is legendary Thinkpad laptops live in the Chinese company Lenovo, quality and innovation are not at that level compared to competitors, as in the years before the 2005th. In fact Lenovo are a good manufacturer of laptops, albeit supported by powerful research development center of IBM. Printed materials for thousands of quality Thinkpad, many videos of extreme ruggedness and reliability of T-series can be found on the Internet. Only the quality of the Thinkpad meet the requirements of NASA, military applications, geophysical research, science and business. Each remaining choice of laptop was more of a compromise because of its lower price. This article will test the latest T-Series laptop to IBM. In our test lab we have two options placed on IBM Thinkpad T43 – Complete one standard video and Intel GMA900, other IBM T43 is equipped with a fingerprint scanner, a video card is ATI Mobility Radeon X300. It is interesting to note that the cheaper model has the logo of Lenovo, a more expensive T43 has a logo of IBM. Competition between the two versions of the T43 is not very interesting, so Test added in more modern laptop – dual DELL Latitude D420 and Netbook DELL Mini9, also participated in our test and HP Compaq nc6230 with a powerful Pentium M 2.00GHz, who also has a video system-ATI Radeon X300.
