Friday, July 1st, 2011
The internet giant Google has introduced a new version of its mobile operating system. Android Ice Cream Sandwich is called to eliminate the main shortcoming of the platform – its fragmentation, it was clear at yesterday’s conference “Google I / O Day”. The universal Ice Cream Sandwich system will not work on smartphones, tablets and netbooks. The appearance of the new OS looks like a tablet version of Android 3.0 Honeycomb. New features are face recognition and voice, chamber devices with Ice Cream Sandwich will focus on the user depending on his shift.
The operating system will launch in the fourth quarter of 2011. Google has agreements with companies of the Open Handset Alliance to update all new devices to the latest version of Android in at least one and a half. Thus, Google will solve the problem of fragmentation.
Meanwhile Google released Android 3.1. Update is available for users of Tablet Motorola Xoom, who are subscribers of the operator Verizon in the U.S.. The new version supports USB devices like mouse, keyboard, gamepad, etc.
